Moore Retires

Congratulations to Randy Moore, Vice President and General Manager of our Auburn location, on his retirement after 42 years of service.
Randy had been a contractor and customer of Erie Materials. On a cold, wet day in the fall of 1981, Erie Materials owner Bob Neumann asked Randy if he ever thought of getting out of the home building business. Randy at first said no but changed his mind quickly.
Randy started at the Syracuse sales counter, working beside Bob, for about nine months. He noticed they were making a lot of deliveries to Auburn and suggested opening a store there. Within a week, they secured a place. Randy worked after hours to build racking and storage.
After the branch had been open for 10 years, Randy told Bob that needed to find a bigger location. They found vacant farm land just outside the city limits and built the current branch.
“Working at Erie is something that has shaped me as an individual and one of the best decisions in my life,” Randy said.  “Knowing and being Bob Neumann’s trusted employee and friend is a memory that I will always cherish Bob was a good mentor: He gave me great advice and was always there.”
President Chris Neumann said,  “Randy was my first boss at Erie Materials.  I am thankful for the opportunity I had to work for him and consider him a friend and mentor.”
